Merry Christmas Everyone!!!!

My wish for all of you is that this holiday season you spend lots of time with those that you love!!!!  Even though not all of my children will be home for Christmas, I am sure my house will be filled with love and laughter.  For that I am so thankful!

I have finished my Christmas sewing, and since the last gift will be given later today, I can share my projects now.

This little quilt was a gift for Katja.  She loves text fabrics and orange.  I looked high and low for a text that I liked for the printing.  I couldn't find one, so at the last minute I drew the letters freehand.  After lots of revision I came up with the version shown.

This quilt is going to my daughter's house.

The fabric is "The Ghastlies" by Alexander Henry.  It looks like a cross between Halloween and Christmas.  I was given the fabric and challenged to come up with a quilt.  I couldn't resist!  Leslie understands my sense of humour and said she would like the quilt.  It will make it to her house shortly.

Last up are my "sew together bags."  The yellow and blue is made from Moda "Best Day Ever" fabric. The second bag uses "Cotton and Steel."  It is the new line that will be in stores early in the new year.  Both bags are for quilty friends.

Enjoy the holidays, and stay safe!!!

December Modern Group

With all the hustle and bustle of December, this months Modern Quilt Group was a small but enthusiastic group.  After a English Paper Piecing demo from Katja, we had a rousing game of Quilter's Jeopardy.  Lots of laughs at the questions we didn't get!
Most of the show and tell was Christmas gift related.

The next Modern Quilt Group meeting will be January 10, 2015 at 1 pm.  Hope to see you there!

Tom's Quilt

December is such a busy month for everyone!  This week I've been working on a few Christmas projects that I can't show until they have been given.  However, I did finish quilting a couple of quilts.  One that has been waiting for a while is Tom's Quilt.

A couple of my Postie friends pieced this great outdoors quilt for a friend that retired earlier in the year. It has been on my to do list for a bit so finally I quilted it.  Working with a panel and various outdoor themed fabrics, they created the perfect quilt for an outdoorsman!

My other quilted finish this week is a pattern called "Lots of Boxes."  I pieced and quilted this one for the Salmon Arm store, Thread and Paper.

If you haven't yet been to the new store, check it out.  Much bigger and brighter than the previous location.

Soiree

I did manage to finish something this week.

The pattern is Soiree by Amy Ellis.  The fabric is also Amy's.  It is the Beyond Neutrals line that has just been released. The pattern uses a layer cake, a background and coordinating binding.  It's a fun quick pattern to make up.

To offset the angular design, I quilted my circle in circle allover pattern.

Busy Hands

Today I want to share with you the "busy hands" of the Rivervalley Sagebrush Guild.  Many women in the group bring hand work to do during the meeting.

No names, just hands! What a great group of women, thanks for participating in my little photo shoot.

Kathy's Quilt!

During a retreat in 2010, a friend asked who wanted to join in on a row robin exchange.  Five of us joined in with Kathy and the exchange began.  The beauty of this type of exchange is the stories we share.

The theme of the rows was "Winter."

Kathy started with Delectable Mountains with a Polar Bear.

Chris appliquéd these delightful Snow Men.

My row was stars with Pond Hockey images in the centre.

Rosemarie made a Northern Lights scene with a Dogsled and Polar Bears.

Lorraine created Snowflakes.  By the way, she quilted this row herself on my longarm!

Carol's row has Polar Bear inserts.

Sadly our friend Kathy passed shortly after the exchange ended.  She did get to see all the rows and was overjoyed with the results.  Time has passed along with some of the hurt of loosing a friend.  Lorraine and I got together to put the quilt together and quilt it.  Barbara took on the binding and is taking the quilt to the hospice that cared for Kathy.  We hope they can use it to raise funds.  If you live in Kamloops go by their craft sale starting December 6 in the North Hills mall.  Maybe you will see "Kathy's Quilt."

A "Sparrow" Finish

Using a Bali Pop named "Sparrow" and a little background fabric, I whipped up this quilt!

I do love working with batiks!  However, lately I have been working with the new Cotton + Steel that was released at Fall Market.  Each day that I am quilting I post a sneak peek to my instagram page "lindasquiltmania."  Here are a couple of this weeks peeks.

I won't be able to show the quilts until the fabric is released in January.  I can hardly wait!

Kamloops Modern Group Show And Tell

Last Saturday was our Modern Group meeting at Katja's.  The challenge was "red".

We had two different three dimensional Poppies.

A couple of works in progress with red in them.

Next up was the mini quilt swap.  Eight people joined in on the fun.  We all filled in a questionnaire that was then given to a friend to use to make a mini quilt for us.

They were all so perfect for the recipient!  I received the first mini with the delightful little circles needle turn appliquéd!  Thank you Sonja, I love it!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And last but not least, the regular show and tell.

A great group of women.  If you want to join us next Month on the Second Saturday at 1pm, the challenge is purple and Katja will be giving a EPP demo and introduction to her millefiori quilt along starting in January.  There is no cost to attend, so I hope to see lots of you there.
